Guns n Roses leaker faces prison time

How he got ahold of them, he's not saying but LA blogger Kevin Cogill did get ahold and posted unreleased songs from a new Guns n Roses album, Chinese Democracy. Cogill awoke Wednesday to find five FBI agents hauling his ass into a federal district court, charged for violating the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005, cnet crave reports. That law might sound like Chinese democracy to you but it's actually truly the law of America: The Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005 makes the sharing of pre-release copyright material a felony punishable by up to three years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. On Cogill's blog, Antiquiet, buddy Britney Bernstein reported on the proceedings:...

It's not typical Toybox fare, but it made me wonder just what kind of "toys" people are keeping in their toyboxes these days. A fascinating recent Gameplayer interview chronicles some tokin' and smokin' at the World Cyber Games in Germany, with the Tournament Director's full knowledge: "I've seen a number of players at national tournaments who came in "baked" (that's stoned for the uninformed) purely so they could play better," [Tournament Director Alex Walker] said. "In most cases they did, although obviously they couldn't just pull out another joint midway through. In one WCG, a player I knew took amphetamines an hour before his match to boost his reflexes." In other words, Walker freely admits knowledge of participants taking illegal...

Steve Jobs death has been greatly exaggerated

News outlet Bloomberg gave Apple fans and investors a huge scare late yesterday when it accidentally published an incomplete version of Steve Jobs obituary over its wire service. Although the service quickly retracted the release, it's an eerily-fascinating read complete with XXXX marks for the cause and date of his death. What's even more interesting is Blolomberg's internal notes to reporters as to who to call for comment. On the list are: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak Jon Rubinstein, former head of Apple's iPod division Heidi Roizen: venture capitalist who once dated Jobs A.C. Mike Markkula, the first VC to back Apple Larry Ellison of Oracle (one of his best friends) Jerry Brown California Attorney General Al Gore: member of Apple's...

Is probiotics a scam?

Some of the claims made by probiotics advocates remind me of the patent medicine craze of the 19th century.
